How to choose
Match the flex to your riding
Soft boots are forgiving and suit beginners and park riders. Medium flex is the all-mountain choice. Stiff boots give fast, precise response for carving and freeride.
Choose a lacing system
Traditional laces are cheap and easy to adjust zone by zone. Speed laces pull tight in one move. BOA dials tighten with a twist and adjust on the lift; dual-BOA boots set the upper and lower boot separately.
Fit them snug
Boots pack out by up to half a size, so they should feel snug in the shop: toes just touching the end, heel locked down when you flex forward. Try them with your snowboard socks, in the afternoon when feet are larger.
Heat-mouldable liners help
Many liners mould to your feet with heat, either in a shop or simply by riding. They reduce pressure points after a few days.

Frequently asked questions
Should I buy snowboard boots before a board?
Yes. Boots affect comfort and control most, and rental boots are often worn out. Rent the board and bindings until you know what you like.
Are BOA snowboard boots good?
BOA is fast and easy to adjust with gloves on, which most riders like. Traditional laces give finer control over each zone and are easier to fix on the mountain.
