Ski transfers

Land. Arrive. Settle into the mountains.

The flight is only part of a ski holiday. Plan the airport pickup, the space for your equipment and the final journey to your accommodation before you book.

Plan your arrival

Route guides and booking decisions

Plan your Geneva–Chamonix journey and compare private and shared transfers before choosing a provider.

Choose the type of journey you need

Private transfer

Compare a vehicle for your party when the accommodation address, luggage load or pickup arrangements are the priority. Confirm what the quote includes; private does not automatically mean no waiting, unlimited bags or flexible cancellation.

Shared transfer or scheduled coach

Compare the actual departure and drop-off arrangements. A seat-based quote may suit a smaller party, but you still need to account for ski bags, waiting time and transport from the stop to your lodging.

Rail or rental car

Check alternatives before assuming a transfer is necessary. Rail requires a complete connection plan; driving requires a realistic parking and equipment plan. Neither is universally cheaper or easier for a ski holiday.

Less guesswork. More mountain time.

Think beyond the flight.

  1. Airport arrival

Check arrival time and airline equipment rules.

  2. Equipment collection

Allow for bags, boards and finding your pickup.

  3. Resort transfer

Confirm the final stop and onward connection.

  4. Mountain base

Match your base to lessons, lifts and local travel.

Check connections, collection times and opening hours for your dates.

Which airport works for your Chamonix trip?

Geneva Airport (GVA)

Compare shared services, private transfers and connecting rail journeys. Confirm ski-bag capacity and the final stop.

Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport (LYS)

Compare only after confirming the complete onward itinerary. The airport’s railway station does not mean there is a direct train to Chamonix.

Check official Lyon access information

Dashed lines are illustrative connections, not road or flight routes. Chamonix’s point is an approximate town centre. Airport coordinates: airport-codes / OurAirports. Distances: Chamonix tourist office. Checked 16 September 2026. Use official piste maps for ski runs and lifts.

Compare door-to-door, not airport-to-resort

Use your full accommodation address when researching the final stop. Two properties sold under the same resort name can require different arrival arrangements. Ask where the vehicle can stop, whether you need another local service and how far you would carry equipment.

Then plan the return separately. Your outbound flight time says nothing about a workable pickup for the flight home. Ask the provider for its proposed return arrangements before treating the itinerary as complete.

What to have ready for a quote

  • Airport, flight number, local arrival date and return flight details.
  • Full accommodation address and any known access restrictions.
  • Passenger count, children’s requirements and any accessibility needs.
  • Number of suitcases, skis, snowboards and other bulky items.
  • A request for the full price, waiting policy and cancellation conditions.

Send these details to your provider and check they appear in your booking confirmation.

Fit the transfer into the whole ski holiday

Check flight and equipment costs alongside onward transport. A cheaper flight that misses the last suitable departure may not create a cheaper trip. Leave room for baggage collection and understand what happens if your flight is delayed. Avoid non-refundable commitments until the essential pieces fit together.

Skiers and snowboarders

Planning a snowboard transfer?

Use the same airport and destination guides, but describe your actual equipment when requesting a quote. Give the number and dimensions of board bags, say whether boots are packed separately, and include every suitcase. For a mixed group, declare both skis and snowboards rather than simply writing “sports equipment”.

Airline acceptance does not establish transfer-vehicle capacity. Confirm each separately, and keep the provider’s equipment confirmation with your booking. If renting at the resort, use the equipment you will actually travel with when comparing transport—not the boards you intend to collect after arrival.
