The short answer
Choose your daily lift and lesson meeting point before choosing an address. A Morzine–Les Gets ski plan is different from an Avoriaz-focused holiday: compare the pass coverage and morning journey, not just the accommodation price.
Less guesswork. More mountain time.
Get the journey right. Enjoy the mountain.

Choose the base that fits your week
Pléney side
A Morzine–Les Gets-focused ski week.
Check first: Walking distance in ski boots, rental storage and the precise lesson meeting point.
Super Morzine side
A base to investigate for an Avoriaz-focused plan.
Check first: The full sequence of lifts and local transport, plus pass validity; a nearby gondola is not the same as arriving at your lesson.
An outlying chalet
A group that values the property and has a workable daily transport plan.
Check first: The actual winter bus stop and timetable, evening return and any included chalet shuttle.
Planning comparisons, not accommodation inspections or hotel ratings.
Start with the ski area, then choose your accommodation
Morzine gives you a village base, but the label “Morzine” does not tell you which ski day an address makes convenient. The operator publishes separate Morzine–Les Gets and wider Portes du Soleil maps. Open those maps before booking, identify the area your group expects to use and ask your ski school to confirm where you should meet.
Our recommendation is to shortlist accommodation against one realistic morning. Can everyone get breakfast, collect equipment and reach the right lift without relying on a connection that has not been checked? A convenient address for confident skiers may be less convenient for a child with an early lesson. If your group intends to spend most days in Avoriaz, compare the whole daily journey with staying there instead. Do not assume a listing mentioning both destinations makes them interchangeable.
Geneva transfers: compare the journey to your door
The tourism office identifies Geneva as the closest airport and lists road transfers as an onward option. Treat advertised travel times as planning estimates, not a guarantee in winter. Ask each provider whether its quote ends at your accommodation, a central stop or another meeting point; the final walk matters when you arrive with children, boards or multiple bags.
Compare shared and private transfers for the same flight, party size and address. For a shared service, check the departure window and what happens if baggage collection or the flight is delayed. For a private service, check the vehicle allocation, ski-bag capacity and waiting allowance. Write the return pickup arrangements down as carefully as the arrival details. The most useful quote is the one with clear inclusions and a workable contingency, not simply the lowest initial price.

Private versus shared ski transfers →Rail and bus: check the connection, not only the station
Cluses and Thonon-les-Bains are rail gateways mentioned in official destination information. They are not Morzine village: a further bus or transfer is part of the trip. Build the complete itinerary for your actual travel date and allow for carrying luggage between platforms and stops. Winter and summer schedules must not be treated as interchangeable.
For a return flight, work backwards from airport check-in rather than forwards from your preferred breakfast time. If the public-transport connection is awkward, price a transfer for the difficult leg before discarding the rail option altogether. Keep the accommodation address and the name of your arrival stop available offline. A cheap rail fare is only a saving if the onward leg and a missed-connection plan are also affordable.

Ski passes: what the published price actually covers
The operator’s published online individual tariff, checked on 16 September 2026, lists a six-day Morzine–Les Gets pass at €276 for adults aged 26–64 for the period through 19 March 2027. The page lists a compulsory hands-free card at €3 extra. It also separates online and ticket-office tariffs, age bands and later-season prices. This is a dated reference, not a live booking quote.
Choose the area first and the duration second. Do not interpret the Morzine–Les Gets price as an all-area Portes du Soleil price. Before paying, confirm the start date, age proof, collection method, card requirements and refund or insurance conditions. For a beginner, ask the instructor which lifts are actually needed before buying the broadest pass. Buy through the operator’s ski-pass site linked below; we have not added a pass affiliate charge or an invented discount.

Rental collection and the first ski morning
A rental booking and a lesson booking should be planned together. Record the shop address, collection window and return deadline, then check the route from that shop to your chosen lift. Ask whether equipment storage is included and whether collecting the previous evening is possible for your arrival time. Avoid assuming two shops with the same chain name can accept each other’s returns.
Snowboarders should confirm boot and binding requirements, stance setup and whether the booked category includes the equipment they need. Families should leave time for fitting rather than scheduling collection immediately before lessons. These are questions to put to the shop, not services we have verified at every outlet. Use the official area map to orient yourself and the individual shop for its current terms.
A workable week and a realistic budget
Separate the fixed bookings from the decisions you can leave open. Accommodation, essential transfers and lessons may need committing early; which sector you ski on a particular day should remain responsive to weather, open lifts and the group’s ability. Do not turn an ambitious circuit into an obligation when someone is tired or conditions change.
For each accommodation shortlist, total the same items: room or chalet, airport travel, daily transport, pass, rental and lessons. Keep meals, equipment insurance and possible late-arrival costs visible rather than hiding them inside a single rough holiday number. For evenings out, check the return journey before choosing a venue. An airport transfer booking does not solve local evening transport. Our view: choose the base that makes the repeated daily journeys simple, then use the rest of the budget for the experiences your group actually values.

Our research methodologyQuestions before you book
Which airport should I investigate for Morzine?
Geneva is the closest airport identified by the tourism office. Compare flight times with the onward transfer, pickup arrangements and your exact accommodation address.
Does a Morzine–Les Gets pass cover the whole Portes du Soleil?
No. Compare the local-area and wider-area products with the operator. Buy the product that covers your intended lifts and lesson location, not simply the cheapest pass carrying the Morzine name.
Can I reach Morzine by train?
Official destination information lists Cluses and Thonon-les-Bains as rail gateways. You still need an onward bus or transfer to Morzine; check the complete itinerary for your date.
