What to know
Bring the right paperwork
Travelling within the EU, your dog needs a microchip, a rabies vaccination and an EU pet passport. From Great Britain you need an animal health certificate issued within 10 days of travel, and Switzerland follows the same EU rules.
Expect a fee and a booking note
Most hotels charge a small nightly fee for dogs and limit how many they take. Add your dog when you book and confirm it with the property.
Pick a village with winter walks
Austrian and South Tyrol valleys clear their winter walking trails, and cross-country trails often have dog-friendly loops. Dogs aren’t allowed on pistes, and most gondolas take them only on a lead and muzzled.
Protect paws from salt and ice
Road salt and ice cut paws. Paw balm or boots, and a towel by the door, make the week easier for everyone.
The pass makes the package worth it
Swiss lift passes are expensive on their own, so a package with the pass included often saves more here than anywhere else.
