What to know
These are self-catered, not catered chalets
British tour operators sell catered chalets with a host who cooks. These are holiday houses you rent and cook in yourself, which costs much less.
Check access in snow
Chalets on the edge of a village can need snow chains or a walk to the ski bus. The cards show the distance to the lift and bus where published.
Half board is the standard
Most Austrian ski hotels sell half board with a multi-course dinner, and many 4-star hotels have a pool and sauna. Lift passes are usually for the whole region (Ski Amadé, SkiWelt, Zillertal Superskipass).
